Ransomware trends in 2020

Over the last several years, we have seen a steady rise in ransomware targeting enterprise and the public sector. The criminals have leveled up their game, with a redesigned business model that has resulted in a higher return of investment. In this presentation we will show the crucial changes observed on the ransomware scene over the past five years, examining the detection trends as well as the financial impact this threat has had. We will look at how ransomware authors leverage new operations methods, advanced techniques and how they exploit data protection laws. The latter phenomenon, doxing, is showing that backing up the data is no longer enough to prevent ransomware from extorting businesses. Here, we will provide supplemental tips for organizations on how to stay protected against this threat.
